Rotary Club of Alexandria Bay Honors 2026 Scholarship Recipients at Homestead Restaurant Dinner
Alexandria Bay, NY - The Rotary Club of Alexandria Bay gathered at the Homestead Restaurant on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to honor this year's scholarship recipients, local students pursuing careers in the trades, healthcare, and education.
Rotary President Craig Garlock welcomed guests and presented the awards, joined by Immediate Past President Joel Walentuk, who has helped lead the club's scholarship program in recent years.
This year's honorees include:
- Zoe Zimmer — Veterinary Technology
- Mellisa Collett — Veterinary Technology
- Hannah Stine — Elementary Education
- Avery Weaver — Education
- Troy Newberry — Education
- Madeline Jimenez — Pharmaceutical Studies
- William Weldon — Engineering
- Austin Duerr — Automotive Mechanics
The scholarships are made possible through the club's ongoing fundraising efforts, including this summer's inaugural Open Doors On The River homes tour on Comfort Island, which benefited the scholarship endowment fund supporting local youth pursuing trade and technical education.
"These students represent the future of our region's workforce," said President Garlock. "Rotary is proud to invest in their education and their careers. We are going to actively mentor these scholarship recipients during their educational journey and support them as they start their careers to help ensure their success."
